Thursday 25th April 2013. BEDRISKA TRIO (Panaretos Kryriatzidis, piano, Manuel Arellano Bover, violin, Miriam Wakeling, cello). A warm welcome to this prize-winning ensemble, formed in 2011 by postgraduates at Trinity Laban, serving the rich fare of two major works: Beethoven’s early but hugely ambitious E flat Trio op 1/1 and Brahms’ C major Trio op 87. Saturday 27th April 2013. MARSYAS TRIO (Fei Ren, piano, Helen Vidovich, flute, Valerie Welbanks, cello). This groundbreaking and award-winning trio will just have returned from a tour of China: it will certainly have been successful, for this group attract nothing but high praise. Their varied programme for our evening has something for everyone: Haydn, Piazzolla, Martinů, Couperin, Messiaen and – as a finale – George Crumb’s hypnotically beautiful Vox Balaenae / Voice of the Whales, directed to be played by masked players in a wash of blue light. Sponsored by the Friends of St Mary’s. See Music at Lunchtime for full details. |
